Albert “Pete” Pickus

Originally from Sioux City, Iowa, Albert “Pete” Pickus enrolled at the University of Michigan in the fall of 1949. He was the junior manager for the Michigan hockey team in 1951-1952 and senior manager in 1952-1953 under Coach Vic Heyliger. Michigan won the NCAA Championship in both years. As manager, he handled much of the business for the team, such as meals on the road trips. He was an avid “fan” of Michigan – both in sports and the Alumni Association.
Pete Pickus served on the board in control of intercollegiate athletics, as the President of the University of Michigan Alumni Association, and as President of the M Club of Cleveland. He graduated from the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. Pete Pickus passed away 29 December 1994.
