As one of college hockey’s greatest goaltenders, Steve Shields helped his Michigan teams to four playoff appearances and two NCAA semifinals, earing letters from the 1990-1991 season to the 1993-1994 season. He never lost in the Great Lakes Invitational Tournament and was named to the All-Tournament team three times, as well as being named the Most Valuable Player in the tournament twice. He amassed an astounding 111 wins during his collegiate career, which is second most in NCAA history.
After leaving Michigan, he spent ten years in the National Hockey League with the Buffalo Sabres, San Jose Sharks, Anaheim Ducks, Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers, and Atlanta Thrashers.
