Prior to enrolling at Michigan, Wally Grant played high school hockey in his hometown of Eveleth, Minnesota. Playing left wing for four seasons under Coach Vic Heyliger, from 1945-1946 to 1949-1950, he scored sixty-three goals and eighty-three assists for a career total of one hundred forty-six points.

Wally Grant was a three time All-American selection, winning the honor in 1948, 1949, and 1950.  He played on Michigan’s first NCAA Championship team in 1948 and served as team captain during his senior year.  During his career as a player, Michigan had an outstanding record of eighty wins, fifteen losses, and five ties.  He graduated from the School of Business Administration.  Wally Grant passed away 5 November 2014.
